Harrah’s Oklahoma officially opens its doors in Chandler, marking a significant milestone for both the state’s gaming industry and the broader regional economy. Operated by Caesars Entertainment in partnership with the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma, the new destination is the first Caesars-managed property in the state, and it arrives with momentum.
The grand opening celebration reflected that energy. Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring tribal and Caesars leadership, the casino floor came to life with its first guests placing bets. Oklahoma football legends Barry Switzer and Bob Stoops helped mark the occasion with ceremonial first plays and first drinks, drawing crowds and underscoring the property’s statewide appeal. During the first hour of opening, News 9’s own Megan Gold's ceremonial first play ended with a $5,000 donation to the local Oklahoma Folds of Honor chapter. The day’s festivities included showgirls, magicians, a DJ, an Elvis impersonator and giveaways.
Positioned along historic Route 66, Harrah’s Oklahoma is more than a gaming destination; it is a strategic investment in tourism and economic development. The property is expected to serve as a key anchor along the corridor, attracting visitors traveling between Oklahoma City, Tulsa and beyond. By tapping into Route 66’s enduring appeal, the development connects Oklahoma’s heritage with a modern entertainment experience designed to keep travelers and their spending closer to home.
The economic impact is immediate and measurable. Harrah’s Oklahoma is creating more than 300 jobs across gaming, hospitality, food and beverage, security and administrative roles. Those positions not only support local families but also contribute to workforce development in Lincoln County and surrounding communities. The project reflects a broader trend of tribal and corporate partnerships driving sustainable growth in Oklahoma.
“This partnership reflects our long-term commitment to economic growth and opportunity for our people,” said Jake Keyes, Chairman of the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma. “Harrah’s Oklahoma brings new energy to our community and creates meaningful opportunities for future generations.”
Inside, the property delivers a full-scale entertainment experience. Guests can explore a casino floor featuring more than 1,000 slot machines, 12 table games and a high-limit area, alongside dining options that range from quick-service favorites at Dash Café to elevated offerings at Arrow & Ember. The integration of Caesars Rewards® also
connects the property to a national network of destinations, giving both in-state and out-of-state guests an added incentive to return.
For Caesars Entertainment, the Chandler opening marks a strategic expansion into Oklahoma, a state with a strong, growing gaming market. For the Iowa Tribe, it signals continued investment in long-term economic resilience. For the region, it introduces a new driver of visitation and spending, especially during this historic anniversary of our country's most famous highway.
As the first guests walk the floor and the lights of the opening celebration fade into regular operations, Harrah’s Oklahoma begins its next chapter, not just as a casino, but as a catalyst for growth along Route 66.
