Developing Oklahoma City’s Economy

The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber leads business efforts to grow existing industries, recruit new companies and develop an active entrepreneurial environment, resulting in quality job creation and a diverse economy.

Aerospace makes up one of the fastest-growing sectors, employing more than 45,500 individuals and having experienced a 21% increase in goods & services output from 2020-2025. A few of the key economic drivers include Government, Health Care, Retail Trade and Professional Services. Federal, state and local government account for approximately 20% of all jobs primarily because of the presence of Tinker Air Force Base, the Federal Aviation Administration, tribal employment, and Oklahoma City is the state’s capital. The largest number of establishments are found within the professional services sector and the oil and gas sector remains a major contributor to GDP and wages.

The interactive online mapping program allows users to search for available commercial buildings and sites in the greater Oklahoma City region, as well as generate site-specific demographic and business analysis reports.

Retail Development
Our Community Redevelopment division works to promote retail development within Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City has a healthy commercial real estate market, with some of the lowest office vacancy numbers in the nation.

Forward OKC
Forward Oklahoma City was established to create quality jobs, increase capital investment, retain existing business and improve per capita income. Through five five-year cycles, these initiatives have laid the groundwork for a dynamic economic development effort that has produced results far exceeding expectations.
