A progress report of Oklahoma County's criminal justice reforms
In 2016, the Vera Institute of Justice identified seven recommendations Oklahoma County leaders needed to address to bring real reforms to the criminal justice system. To understand where the county made progress and what further improvements in the system are necessary, the Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Advisory Council sought assistance from the Crime and Justice Institute to analyze data from the detention center, review state statutes and agency policies, and interview numerous system stakeholders.
