State of the Economy

Each year at this luncheon, attendees hear directly from expert economists on trends in the local and national economy. The event includes a panel of local economists and a featured keynote presentation from a national economist on issues impacting the global economy.

Keynote Speaker
Anirban Basu, Expert Economist, Chairman & CEO, Sage Policy Group

Anirban is the chairman & CEO of an economic consulting firm Sage Policy Group and professor of international economics, urban economics, micro- and macroeconomics at Johns Hopkins University.

In his keynote presentation, he will supply in-depth analysis of the major factors shaping economic outcomes, including elevated inflation, lingering pandemic, worker shortages, war in Europe, rising interest rates, and stepped up infrastructure spending. It will then turn toward a forecast for the year to come.

The event will also include a panel discussion from regional economists on the issues that are particularly important to our state.
