Oklahoma City officially opened the OKANA Resort and Indoor Waterpark with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking a major milestone for the city’s tourism industry and the Chickasaw Nation’s economic development efforts. The $400 million development in the Horizons District, next to the First Americans Museum (FAM), is the largest commercial investment in Oklahoma City history.

Frontier Airlines will begin nonstop flights from OKC Will Rogers International Airport (WRIA) to Orlando (MCO) on March 7. The airline will operate flights twice daily.

Oklahoma City is holding steady as the most affordable large city in the U.S., according to the 2024 annual Cost of Living Index (COLI) from the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER). 

In December, the Oklahoma City MSA unemployment rate held steady at 2.8%, unchanged from November. The metro has now experienced 41 consecutive months with an unemployment rate below 4%, 

2024 was a record-breaking year for Oklahoma City, marked by growth across various sectors, including air travel. Will Rogers International Airport saw its highest-ever passenger traffic, with over 4.6 million passengers traveling through the facility.
