Will Rogers World Airport set a record for passenger traffic in 2017, nearing the 4 million mark.
A total of 3,925,358 passengers flew in and out of the airport last year, outpacing the previous record set in 2014 by 91,349, airport officials announced Thursday.
"It is a positive reflection on the community and the things that are happening in our community," said Karen Carney, airport spokeswoman. "When our enplanements and deplanements are robust, that points to a good robust economy in our city and region."
Several factors contributed to the record-setting year, Mark Kranenburg, director of airports, stated in a news release.
