Oklahoma City will host more than 900 chamber of commerce executives and partners from around the world for the annual national convention of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). The convention will take place July 23-26 at the Cox Convention Center and Arena.

The Greater Oklahoma City Back to Business Initiative launched in in order to support the businesses in Moore and south Oklahoma City damaged by recent tornados on May 20. The initiative, which is a partnership between the City of Oklahoma City, the City of Moore, the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and the Moore Chamber of Commerce, will allow physically-damaged businesses to report their needs following the storm and get connected with resources to help them return to business.

The Oklahoma Senate passed SB 1062, landmark workers’ compensation reform legislation, by a vote of 35-12 today. The bill, which was approved by the House last week by a vote of 74-24, will change Oklahoma’s current adversarial system to an administrative system, a revision that is expected to produce approximately $250 million in annual savings for Oklahoma companies.

On Wednesday, Feb. 27, Von Maur Department Store announced it signed a contract to open its first Oklahoma City location in a 150,000-square-foot store at Quail Springs Mall in north Oklahoma City in Fall 2014. The announcement of this store, which will eventually employ 150 to 175 Oklahomans, supports the ongoing growth in the Memorial Corridor and Quail Springs Mall area.

Governor Mary Fallin today called for complete overhaul of Oklahoma's workers compensation system and a move away from our adversarial system towards an administrative system. The comments came during the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber Chairman’s Event at Oklahoma Christian University.
