OKLAHOMA CITY, July 23, 2013—Oklahoma City will host more than 900 chamber of commerce executives and partners from around the world for the annual national convention of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). The convention will take place July 23-26 at the Cox Convention Center and Arena. Greater Oklahoma City Chamber President and CEO Roy H. Williams currently serves as the ACCE chairman.

“It is an honor to host colleagues from around the nation in Oklahoma City for the ACCE conference, and it is an even greater honor to highlight Oklahoma City’s exciting success during their stay here,” Williams said. “Oklahoma City is no stranger to creating its own destiny, and people from cities across the nation are eager to learn from our story.”

Oklahoma governor Mary Fallin will officially open the convention on July 23. That same day, Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett and former Oklahoma City Mayors Ron Norick and Kirk Humphreys will serve as panelists in a session giving attendees an overview of the MAPs initiatives that spurred a series of major capital improvements that transformed the city.

ACCE’s annual conference is the largest gathering of chamber professional in the world. During the convention’s three days, attendees will identify and analyze trends, improve management effectiveness and share ideas to build stronger communities. National media consultant Sally Hogshead, entrepreneurship expert John Doggett and best-selling author Michael Gerber will serve as the meeting’s keynote speakers. Attendees will also explore Oklahoma City through scheduled tours and convention events at venues such as the Devon Boathouse and the National Cowboy Museum.

"Chamber leaders representing communities of every size, from coast-to-coast and around the world, participate in this multi-day event. Specialists who work at chambers in jobs ranging from government relations to communications to sales also attend,” says Mick Fleming, ACCE’s president. “Attendees return to their respective chambers with the latest in best practices, emerging trends, and strategies for success that will shape their work and their communities in the coming months.”
