Representatives from the Importers & Exporters Association of Taipei and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce signed a collaboration agreement at the chamber office on Monday.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed with a goal of creating a direct business liaison between the two cities, linking Oklahoma with Taiwan. With this link established, the State Department of Commerce announced a new office will open to support business development from Oklahoma City to Taipei.
Jesse Garcia, senior trade specialist for the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, said the department is the state gateway to economic development, lead and project development, stating that there is a change coming soon.
“We don’t do quite a lot with respect to trade between Taiwan and Oklahoma, but that will soon change,” Garcia said. “The next evolution of our international business services is the opening of the Oklahoma-Taiwan Regional Trade Office.”
