The City Council approved four agreements Tuesday that advance the $1 billion downtown arena that will be the future home of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The agreements relate to the new arena and the city’s relationship with the Thunder and the current arena operator, Mayor David Holt said.
“It is certainly one of the primary accomplishments of this city government, really over the last 30 years, to establish a relationship with major league professional sports, and we’ve obviously seen in recent weeks what that can mean to our city,” Holt said.
The Thunder are one game away from bringing the city its first NBA Championship. The team is up 3-2 over the Indiana Pacers going into Game 6 on Thursday.
