Sunny Cearley joined the Chamber staff this month as vice president of membership development.
Cearley replaced Lisa W. Boevers, who resigned from the Chamber in December 2014. The Chamber's recent announcement about Cearley's hiring followed a national search conducted by the Chamber.
Cearley joins the Chamber from The Journal Record Publishing Company where she served as the director of sales and community relations. In that role, she was responsible for oversight of advertising sales and special events.
“Sunny’s leadership, sales acumen and community involvement combine to make her an ideal choice for this role,” said Roy H. Williams, president and CEO of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber. “We are excited to have her join our team and look forward to the expertise she will bring to our membership department.”
In her new role, Cearley will lead the Chamber’s membership team and become a key member of the Chamber’s executive leadership team. Cearley will build on the established platform to plan, create and lead the implementation of programs, campaigns and services to increase Chamber membership and overall retention. She will also manage the Chamber’s Total Resource Development Campaign (TRDC).
“I am pleased to join an organization that is so central to the Oklahoma City community and its continued success,” said Cearley. “I look forward to working with the myriad of community partners and leaders that have made the Chamber such a strong organization. Together, I believe that we can continue to strengthen the membership division of the Chamber.”
Cearly holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Baylor University, a Master of Journalism degree from the University of North Texas, and is an inaugural fellow of the Dolan Leadership Institute. Her community involvement includes the board of directors for the YWCA of Central Oklahoma and the marketing committee for the United Way of Central Oklahoma. She is also a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City Class 30 and LOYAL Class III.
