OKC Chamber begins project to unify education and workforce development

The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce is bringing systems together to connect individuals with a streamlined workforce path, aiming to change broad education outcomes in the state.

Formed in 2012 as a project of the nonprofit Community Education Coalition, Civic Lab is working to advance . Their practice is to look at what makes  flow best, document what they find and share those practices at a broad level.

Rhonda Baker, director of education for the chamber, is leading the work with Civic Lab and said that the chamber is looking at policy recommendations that can be made to the state legislature to better connect the community and improve educational outcomes.

Baker said Civic Lab’s initial conversations have shown that people understand the work that’s needed in the region, including connecting both people and programs and building communication to have systems work together instead of apart.
