Oklahoma City will host 200 Olympians from more than 30 countries three years from now and will require tens of thousands of volunteers to pull it off, Team OKC President Michael Byrnes said Wednesday.
Byrnes, who was hired to lead the effort eight weeks ago, said he is developing the budget needed to stage the canoe slalom and softball competitions for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
“This has never been done before in terms of having something such a long distance from the host city,” Byrnes said. “We’re still defining the swimming lanes, if you will, in terms of what Team OKC has to deliver versus what LA28 has to deliver, that’s what’s going to determine the budget. But we don’t have all those answers.”
