Oklahoma City has certainly not been without its fair share of excitement and activity in recent weeks, and it seems we’re not slowing down anytime soon.
Sports fever hit downtown with both the Barons and the Thunder pushing their way through the playoffs, not to mention the start of the RedHawks season and recent NCAA and Big 12 sports in Bricktown and at the National Softball Hall of Fame Stadium.
But the buzz about Oklahoma City extends far beyond our sports arenas. Members of the Chamber staff recently teamed up with local partners to take the message of Oklahoma City’s booming retail market to more than 20,000 attendees at the International Convention of Shopping Centers. And later this month Oklahoma will send its largest delegation ever to the annual BIO International Convention in Boston. Add to that the recent launch of volume three of VeloCity, our digital magazine that promotes Oklahoma City, and it’s hard to imagine that people are not hearing about Oklahoma City and its incredible growth and success.
People are buzzing about Oklahoma City. Whether we’re being talked about during a national broadcast of a Thunder game or being discussed by retail professionals across the nation, Oklahoma City is a topic of conversation nationwide– and that is certainly a good thing. As we head into the summer months and welcome more activity to our region – along with thousands of visitors – I hope you’ll join me in putting out the welcome mat and spreading the word about Oklahoma City. Say hi to our visitors and offer them your assistance and suggestions. Invite your friends, family and colleagues to visit www.greaterokc.tv and check out the latest issue of VeloCity. Together, we can make sure that Greater Oklahoma City continues to receive the buzz it so greatly deserves.
