Oklahoma City, OK, Sept. 19, 2017 – Edmond Hyundai and the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma have partnered to bring automotive education to girls in Oklahoma City. On October 26, 2017, the two organizations will host a badge program focusing on basic maintenance and emergency maintenance skills at Fiat of Edmond, which is located on the Edmond Hyundai lot.
The goal of the program is to not only improve the skills of youth in terms of safety and maintenance of automobiles but also to build confidence in the girls who attend the classes. Luke Glavan, General Manager of both Fiat of Edmond and Edmond Hyundai, explained that when girls are given this opportunity to learn about a new field, they might find themselves looking at a new future.
“We believe that there should be no boundaries for women and girls in terms of enjoying and pursuing a career in the automotive field,” Glavan said. “This class is one way we can help promote that idea, as well as educate girls in the community and support an already excellent nonprofit in the area.”
The class, which will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., is open to both Girl Scouts and potential Girl Scouts, as well as their friends and families. It is a free event.
“We are very excited about the potential of this partnership and event,” Glavan said. “There is nothing better in the current climate than giving to the future, which, in this case, happens to be female.”
