Economic development tools available for your research

Friday, October 23, 2015

Economic research is one of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber’s focus areas, and its research team has a lot of tools it uses regularly to track data and trends involving the Greater OKC region.

Chamber ‎Research Economist Eric Long recently led a Business Intelligence Seminar for members at the Chamber, where he and his team shared some of those resources that companies can use to find out more about our community and related businesses.

Go online to see the list of tools that Long and his team discussed at the seminar.

But also be sure to check out the extensive resources on various Chamber websites that will allow you to search for information about your industry sector, the city's retail community the Chamber's website, properties and more. Here's a quick look:

  • Start with The Greater Oklahoma City Partnership for in-depth information on the Oklahoma City-area's economy with regional resources and small-business assistance. On this website, you can find an extensive property locator, called the OKC Economic Development Information System (OKEDIS) for companies wanting to relocate to the region and find out more about demographics, labor force, community spending and more. This also allows searches by business type, employee type, etc., within a certain radius.
  • For retail information, go to www.okcretail.com and explore the city's retail scene from an economic development perspective, with data, property search, recent developments and more.
  • Learn about resources and services to technology-based startups from the nonprofit i2e, which is separate from the Chamber but works closely with us through the Oklahoma Bioscience Association (OKBIO).
  • See what legislative issues are important to metro businesses and the state's economy at the Chamber's Oklahoma Business Advocacy Center.

Watch for future Business Intelligence Seminars at the Chamber's Events page. And If you need any help with research and business intelligence that can help your company remain competitive, contact a member of the research team:
