OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 23, 2015) – The Redman Triathlon is staging for this year’s competition at Lake Hefner on Saturday, Sept. 26 when it will host the Long Course Triathlon National Championships, which is the only U.S. qualifier for the 2016 World Championships.

The competition will draw more than 1,400 athletes from across 48 states along with more than 10,000 spectators. US Fleet Tracking is Redman Triathlon’s presenting sponsor again this year.

Dave Wood, executive race director of Redman Triathlon, defines the importance of US Fleet Tracking's participation in this year's event as two-fold.

“As well as financial support through the presenting sponsorship, US Fleet Tracking will provide its live GPS trackers for a variety of logistical purposes, aiding the on-course staff immensely on race day,” says Wood.

According to Wood, the implementation of tracking devices in logistics facilitates more in-depth statistical gathering, which is valuable in the sports world. US Fleet Tracking's technology allows the Redman Triathlon to continue growing as a world-class event and a prime destination site for multi-sport competition.

“The stats we gather using the live GPS trackers is powerful for Redman,” adds Wood. “It allows us to grow our event to the point of hosting the pinnacle triathlon event in 2016 – the World Championships.”

In 2016 the Redman Triathlon will host 50 professional athletes, which will have competed in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games the month previous, along with its traditional 1,400 competitors from 30 foreign countries and the United States.

Wood states the Redman has grown its status nationally in the triathlon world, with an estimated $4.3 million economic impact on Oklahoma City.

“The reception from the City, evidenced by our 1,100 volunteers, is instrumental to the race and a major factor contributing to the positive experiences we hear hundreds of athletes speak of each year,” says Wood. “The race committee is made up largely of athletes, and we're all committed to delivering an athlete-friendly event that we ourselves would want to come back to. US Fleet Tracking is absolutely instrumental in furthering this effort, and we're very appreciative.”
