OKLAHOMA CITY (April 24, 2014) – Officials with Remington Park and Easter Seals Oklahoma announced a partnership that brings the Oklahoma City skyline built of more than 2 million building bricks to the racetrack’s lobby for public viewing. OK CityScape, a local fundraiser dedicated to improving the quality of early childhood education in Oklahoma, recently selected Easter Seals Oklahoma as the benefitting organization for the 2014-2015 season.

Since the completion of OK CityScape in 2009, the exhibit has been traveling through the Oklahoma City metro on display for public viewing at each location stop. OK CityScape works with nonprofits in Oklahoma to help raise awareness about early childhood education and provide opportunities for disadvantaged children. Donations and funds raised by OK CityScape through the year are then donated to the nonprofit for their programs. The Easter Seals Oklahoma Peer Integration Program guides children with special needs into a typical environment by providing the tools they need to succeed in everyday life.

“We are excited to continue Remington Park’s longtime affiliation with Easter Seals Oklahoma through hosting this unique project that displays the Oklahoma City skyline,” said Matt Vance, Remington Park vice president of racing and wagering. “Hosting the Oklahoma City skyline display made up of children’s building bricks is a great addition for Remington Park and the Oklahoma City Adventure District.”

The OK CityScape display includes buildings and sports arenas in the Oklahoma City metro as well as familiar tourist attractions, such as the Skirvin Hilton Hotel, Devon Tower and the ice rink signed by Barons players just to name a few. The building brick display of OK CityScape measures 15-feet by 20-feet wide and the towers reach up to 13-feet tall.

Remington Park has served on the Easter Seals Oklahoma board of directors for the past 25 consecutive years, helping raise awareness about children with special needs in the state. Remington Park hopes to hold events and fundraisers centered around OKCityScape this year to help raise money for Easter Seals Oklahoma and the children that they help in our community said Vance.

“We’re partners of our community at Remington Park, along with our parent company, Global Gaming Solutions,” Vance said. “We view the relationship with Easter Seals Oklahoma and OKCityScape as an opportunity to continue the high standards we set for ourselves and our employees as being a partner in the growth and promotion of Oklahoma City.”

“We are privileged to be offered such an exciting opportunity with OK CityScape for our newly established Peer Integration Program,” said Paula K. Porter, Easter Seals Oklahoma’s president and CEO. “This partnership and Remington Park’s generosity of donating the exhibit space for OK CityScape will enable us to raise crucial funds for our program that will benefit children with disabilities, delays and challenging behaviors to aide in preparing them for a typical classroom setting in our community.”

The idea behind OK CityScape comes from Toyscape, Inc.’s chairman and founder, David Matthews, who also has created Dallas CityScape to raise funds in Texas for disadvantaged children.

OK CityScape is currently on display at Remington Park, located in Oklahoma City’s Adventure District at One Remington Place. The 2 million children’s brick display is available for public viewing through March 2015.
