An 11-member volunteer advisory board is to oversee projects and budgets for the MAPS for streets sales tax extension taking effect Jan. 1.

The Oklahoma City Council is expected to adopt a resolution establishing the board on Tuesday.

Voters approved a 27-month extension of the 1-cent MAPS sales tax on Sept. 12.

It is expected to raise about $240 million, primarily for resurfacing neighborhood streets.

Streetscapes, trails and bicycle lanes also will be built.

The advisory committee will:

• Make recommendations to the city council on projects, including sequencing and phasing, design and construction.

• Meet monthly, at times and places open to the public.

• Consist of one member from each of the city's eight wards, plus three at-large members.

The mayor will appoint members, subject to city council confirmation. Each council member will nominate a constituent to serve on the board.
